For New and Early-Stage Businesses
You Just Started a Business. Your Website Should Not Look Like It.
Most new businesses launch with a template website that looks like every other startup in their industry, or worse, no website at all. Either way, you are making your first impression with your worst foot forward. We build professional, conversion-focused websites for new businesses using the same proven frameworks and Directive Design methodology that we use for our established clients. Same quality. Same strategy. Same $1,500 price. The only difference is that instead of upgrading an existing site, we build yours from scratch, and we still show you the finished homepage before you pay a dollar.
The Two Mistakes Every New Business Makes with Their Website
Mistake number one is waiting. You tell yourself you will get to the website once you have revenue, once you have clients, once things settle down. Meanwhile, every prospect who hears about your business Googles you and finds nothing. No website. No proof you exist beyond a Google Business listing and a Facebook page you set up in twenty minutes. You are asking strangers to trust a business that has no visible home on the internet. Some will. Most will not.
Mistake number two is settling for a template. You sign up for Wix or Squarespace, pick a template, plug in your logo and a few sentences about what you do, and call it done. The site exists, which is better than nothing, but it communicates exactly one thing: this business just started and has not invested in how the world sees it. The design is generic. The copy is vague. There is no strategy behind what the site says or how it says it. A template website is the digital equivalent of a handwritten sign taped to a card table. It confirms you are open for business. It does not make anyone confident about walking through the door.
Both mistakes cost you the same thing: credibility during the window when credibility matters most.
When your business is new, you do not have years of reputation, hundreds of reviews, or a referral network doing the selling for you. Your website is carrying the entire weight of your first impression. It is the only thing a prospect can evaluate before deciding whether to call you or move on. And that first impression is being formed in the first three seconds of their visit, by a part of their brain that operates on pure instinct, before they have read a single word of your copy.
If that first impression says "professional, credible, worth my time," the prospect stays. If it says "template, generic, just getting started," they leave. And they do not come back.
Your First Website Should Be Built Like It Is Your Most Important Marketing Asset. Because It Is.
We build websites for new businesses using the exact same methodology we use for established companies with dated websites that need upgrading.
That methodology is called Directive Design. It combines three proven frameworks that have been used by the world's most successful marketers for decades:
StoryBrand architecture
structures every page so that your customer is the hero of the story, not your company. Within three seconds of landing on your homepage, a visitor knows what you do, how it makes their life better, and what to do next. This is called the Grunt Test, and roughly 75% of small business websites fail it. Yours will not.
Category Design positioning
frames your business as fundamentally different from the competition, not just another option in a crowded market. Instead of saying "we are a quality provider of [service]," your site says something specific, ownable, and impossible for a competitor to copy by swapping in their own name.
Direct Response copy principles
ensure that every headline, every benefit statement, every testimonial, and every call to action on your site is written to move a skeptical stranger toward taking action. Not vague marketing language. Specific, benefit-driven, proof-stacked copy informed by a century of tested persuasion principles.
These are the same frameworks used by the best marketing minds in the world. They are almost never applied to a new business website because most new businesses cannot afford the agencies that use them and do not know they exist. We changed that.
Four Steps. Ten Minutes of Your Time. A Finished Website You See Before You Pay.
Fill Out Our Intake Form
It takes about 10 minutes and covers the essentials: what your business does, who you serve, what makes you different, and any credentials, background, or proof points you already have. There is also an optional bonus form that goes deeper into your story, your ideal customer, and your competitive landscape. The more you give us, the stronger the site.
Send Us What You Have
A headshot. Your logo (if you have one). Photos of your workspace, your team, your product, whatever visually represents your business right now. If you have a business plan, a brand one-pager, or even just a notes document where you have outlined what your company does and why, send that too. We do not need polished materials. We need raw ingredients. We do the rest. That is all we need from you before we build.
We Build Your Homepage
Using the intake form data, the images you provided, and our own independent research into your industry, your competitors, and the questions your future customers are searching for, our Creative Director commands every element of your site through the Directive Design process. Modern technology executes those commands. The result is a finished, live, clickable homepage you can explore on your phone and laptop before you spend a dollar. If you love it (and you will), you pay $1,500 flat and it is yours.
The Onboarding Call
Once you have committed, we schedule a 30 to 45 minute video call where we walk through the site together, discuss any edits or additions you want, and gather the deeper information we need to build out your remaining pages. We record and transcribe this call (with your permission) so nothing gets lost. This is where your origin story, your service details, your voice, and your vision get captured in full. Everything we learn on this call gets built into your additional pages during the 30-day post-launch window.
Here is the important distinction: you do not need to invest any time beyond the intake form and a few images before you see your finished homepage. The onboarding call happens after you have already seen the work and decided to move forward. We earn the deeper conversation by proving the value first.
What You Get for $1,500
Full Homepage Design and Build
Modern, mobile-first, conversion-focused. Built through Directive Design: every section strategically commanded by a Creative Director with 25 years of marketing experience. Not a template. Not a theme. A custom site built for your specific business.
Strategic Copy and Messaging
Written using StoryBrand architecture and Direct Response principles. Your homepage copy answers three questions in the first three seconds: what do you do, how does it help me, and what do I do next. Every headline makes a specific promise. Every section earns the next.
Category Design Positioning
Your site does not say "we are a quality provider of [service]." It says something your competitors cannot say. We research your market, find the gap, and position your business as the obvious choice, not just another option.
Up to 10 Foundational Pages
About / Services / Team / Testimonials / Contact. Built after the onboarding call using the deeper information gathered during that conversation. Each page fully designed and written with real content, not placeholder text.
SEO and AIO Foundations
Title tags, meta descriptions, schema markup, keyword-targeted content, FAQ section with FAQPage schema. Built so that Google and AI tools can find you, understand you, and recommend you from day one.
10 Blog Post Previews (Content Strategy Preview)
Every spec site includes a preview of 10 blog post titles and excerpts, each targeting a real search query your customers are typing into Google right now. These previews demonstrate the content strategy built into your site. Full articles are available as an add-on: 10 SEO-optimized blog posts for $300 at time of order.
Trust Architecture
Even as a new business, you have proof points: your credentials, your background, your "why," the problem you saw in the market that made you start this company. We surface those proof points strategically so that a visitor trusts you before they reach the contact form.
Full Ownership
The site lives on your domain. You own it outright. No monthly agency fees. No platform lock-in. No dependency on us for access.
30 Days of Post-Launch Edits
After launch, we handle any adjustments or additions for a full month at no additional charge.
Established Businesses Can Survive a Bad Website. You Cannot.
An established business with a weak website still has other things working in its favor: years of reputation, hundreds of reviews, a referral network, brand recognition in the community. The website is leaking customers, but the other channels are filling the bucket fast enough that the leak is not fatal.
A new business has none of those backup channels. No reviews yet. No referral network yet. No brand recognition yet. The website is not one channel among many. It is the channel. It is the only thing a stranger can evaluate before deciding whether your business is real, credible, and worth their time.
That is why a professional website is not a "nice to have" for a new business. It is the difference between launching with credibility and launching into silence.
The businesses that gain traction fastest in their first year are not always the ones with the best product or the most experience. They are the ones that look like they belong. The ones whose website makes a visitor think "this company has its act together" before they know anything else about it. That first impression creates a compounding advantage: the business that looks credible attracts the first customers, those customers leave the first reviews, those reviews attract more customers, and the flywheel begins.
A template website does not start that flywheel. A strategic, professionally built website does.

Built by a Business Advisor, Not a Web Designer
UpgradedWebsites.com was founded by Dan Kalis, who spent 25 years advising hundreds of 7 and 8-figure entrepreneurs on growth, capital, and marketing strategy before building a single website. His marketing education came from rooms most web designers never enter: War Room Masterminds, Traffic and Conversion Summits, and years studying under Jay Abraham, Frank Kern, Ryan Deiss, Parris Lampropoulos, and Brian Clark.
Every site is built through Directive Design: the Creative Director commands every strategic element, and modern technology executes those commands. No developers. No committee. No six-week timeline. 25 years of marketing knowledge, speaking your website into existence.
This is not a web design shop that learned marketing. This is a marketing strategy firm that builds websites.
