The 7 Signs Your Business Website Is Due for an Upgrade

If two or more of these sound familiar, your site is actively costing you money every month.

We look at hundreds of small business sites a month. The ones that need an upgrade share a tight pattern. Here are the seven signs we look for.

1. It is hard to use on a phone. Pinch to zoom, tiny tap targets, forms that overflow the screen — all of it tells a visitor you do not really care about them.

2. It loads slowly. Anything over three seconds on a phone is a problem. Five seconds is bleeding leads.

3. The design feels like a different decade. If your site still has gradients from 2014, stock photos of strangers shaking hands, or a slider with three images, prospects are quietly judging you.

4. There is no clear next step. If a motivated buyer has to hunt for your phone number or scroll past five sections to find a contact form, you have a conversion problem.

5. You have not added new content in over a year. Search engines and AI tools both reward freshness. A static site looks abandoned to algorithms.

6. Your reviews and testimonials are not on the homepage. Trust signals belong above the fold, not on a separate page nobody visits.

7. You cannot remember the last time it sent you a lead. If your site is not actively contributing to revenue, it is decorating, not working.

If two or more of these landed, the upgrade pays for itself in the first deal it brings in. That is the bar we hold every build to.
